Part of our service is to speak up for people and to help them speak up for themselves. Here are some examples of the different types of advocacy we provide:
Self, Group and Peer Advocacy
In Shropshire and Telford, we support people to gain the confidence and skills to
be able to take part in meetings. We support them to be involved in decision-
Citizen Advocacy
At the One Stop Shop, we take on and train volunteer Citizen Advocates to support people with learning difficulties in Telford and Wrekin.
A Citizen Advocate will build a trusting relationship, speak up for the rights as a citizen and will not judge you.
Crisis and Issue Based Advocacy
One Stop Shop also supports individuals who need help with specific issue and crisis situations in Telford and Wrekin. This type of advocacy helps with individual risk and partnership working. It also helps to sort out issues, and will give support and professional knowledge.
OSCA (Oswestry and Shropshire Citizen Advocacy) do the Citizen, Crisis and Issue Based Advocacy for people in the rest of Shropshire.
